New 2023 Honda Africa Twin CRF1100L Colour Updates Announced

This week Honda announced brand new colour updates for their 2023 Africa Twin lineup, so here are the pics for your perusal.

Starting with the base Africa Twin, last year’s Grand Prix Red is being carried over as is the super-popular Tricolour option, but with a few tweaks. It’s called Glint Wave Blue Metallic Tricolour and it now gets a new blue headlight cowl, a blue front mudguard and tail sections, and red and white detailing.

Also for the base model there’s still the Ballistic Black Metallic option, although instead of the pop of red on last year’s subframe it’s now fully blacked out and gets some slightly revised graphics.

Over to the Adventure Sports and for 2023 there’s still the Pearl Glare White Tricolour complete with gold wheels, which in my opinion is one of the best looking adventure bikes on the market. And then replacing the previous year’s black model we’ve got a new Mat Iridium Gray Metallic colour, with black detailing to complement the jet black wheels.

As you may already be aware, you can either get the Africa Twin with a manual box or their Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) and be it on the road or at the Honda Adventure Centre earlier this year, I’ve been pretty impressed with the latter. But I always had the feeling that most people on a bike like this would go for the manual box.

Honda released their 2021 sales figures along with the colour updates, and whilst that’s true for the more off-road biased standard model which sold 41% of the 2021 bikes with DCT, the Adventure Sports was up at 61%. So by a small margin admittedly, the Africa Twin now sells in the majority with with DCT at 51% overall. Perhaps surprising for an adventure model but perhaps the sales figures indicate that DCT has now proven itself off-tarmac.
