In Pictures: Can-Am’s New Origin & Pulse Electric Motorcycle Concepts
The Canadian manufacturer known best for their three-wheelers resurrects its motorcycle lineup with a pair of new electrics, due to hit the market in 2024.
First up there’s the Origin which references Can-Am’s heritage, having produced motocross and enduro bikes back in the 1970s that achieved some success on the North American racing scene. And then there’s the Pulse which offers most of the same features, but in a road-biased naked format.
Both will be powered by a Rotax-designed motor, which they say produces “highway-worthy speeds with plenty of horsepower and torque”, but full specs won’t be available until August 2023, so we’ll have to wait and see.
What I do find immediately impressive though is the design, with a futuristic Husqvarna-esque aesthetic that works very nicely in the context of an electric machine. There’s also a single-sided swingarm on both bikes which adds a touch of flair, although it’s not entirely clear whether the final drive is shaft or belt.
Either way, I’m looking forward to seeing what they come up with next year, and hopefully they don’t tame the vibrant design too much for the production version.
